Greetings, Comrades!

On behalf of the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, I have the honour and pleasure to welcome you all, to the occasion of the 5th Year Anniversary celebration of the Doctors Timeout Family (DTOF).

DTOF  has come a long way since its inception 5years ago. I salute the founder/convener Dr Anthony Ude, our very own Immediate Past Secretary General, for his foresight in coming up with this avenue. 
We salute each and every one of you for your unique contributions that have brought DTOF thus far. 

Even as we worked hard we were not too busy to have some time out here to share knowledge and ideas. DTOF has continued to offer us a unique opportunity and encouraged ingenuity and creativity. 
We celebrate this achievements with great joy and pride.

The theme of this year’s anniversary COVID-19 outbreak: Harnessing the opportunities in the Pandemic-- Medicalpractice in the post covid era -- socioeconomic implications and breaking barriers  is apt considering the rapidly evolving nature of the outbreak.

We look forward to our continued relationship as we serve humanity. God Bless You!

*Good Morning Esteemed Elders and Colleagues*

It is a great honor and privilege to once again welcome you all to the 5th anniversary of Doctors Time Out Family(DTOF). It's always worthy to note that with your support and prayers, what once started as a whastapp group has blossomed into a full fledged Non Governmemtal Organisation and keeping with the traditions of helping the less privileged and promoting unity in the medical profession.

Over the past years DTOF has been involved in several charitable projects  such as  Deworm and Educate the Child initiative,Adopt and Train a Child initiative,Free Medical Outreaches and Distributions of food items  and toiletries to the less privileged

It is no longer news that the world as we  know it is currently fighting a covid-19 pandemic ,a pandemic that has rendered even countries with good healthcare system battling assiduously to curtail the spread of the virus and save lives. 

The pandemic has also dealt a major blow to world economy with resultant impact on our mono economy.

The theme of the anniversary *Covid-19 Outbreak: Harnessing the Opportunities in the Pandemic*, is quite apt and well thought out,as the pandemic has indeed opened the frontiers in the medical profession to various opportunities hitherto not harnessed in our clime. Prior now,hand sanitizers,facemask and other Personal protective equipment were mostly imported from China and other countries. But it is worthy to note that with the pandemic, Nigerians were able to locally produce Hand Sanitizers,Facemasks,face shields and overalls(Taking ISTH as a case study who have been producing it’s own reusable overall PPE and Hand Sanitizers).  

Other subthemes will  look into the socio-economic implications of Covid-19,entrepreneur and investments opportunities for doctors.

*All guests speakers will be live via zoom at the appointed day and time and I enjoy everyone to take the opportunity of joining us via zoom for an interactive session with the various speakers*

I want to appreciate everyone who has in one way or the other contributed their time and resources towards the successful hosting of the 5th Anniversary, I ask  God Almighty to replenish your pockets a million folds.

Once again, I welcome you all to the 5th Anniversary of DTOF  and wish everyone a hitch free weeklong activities.

A Congratulatory Message on the 5th Year Anniversary Celebration of Doctors Timeout Family (DTOF) by the Secretary General of the Nigerian Medical Association Dr Philip Ekpe on Wednesday 17th June 2020 at 10.00 hours

Good morning dear colleagues, it's my pleasure addressing you this morning on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of this great family DTOF. 


I hereby congratulate DTOF members globally; the ethics and privileges Commitee and most especially the founder of this blog Dr Anthony Ude (Narcolepsy)and also to members  for the energy, liveliness,zestfulness, positivity, efficacy and aggression regularly displayed here geared towards the sustenance of welfare for all members of NARD/NMA, political sensitization, mobilization and engagement of doctors nationwide, bridging the communication divide between junior doctors and that between doctors and the public and care for the needy and vulnerable in the society

We the participants on this blog have been kept on our toes by the level of highly cerebral depositions seen here, and this confirmed my conviction that we have a great and very resourceful young men and women to tap from their rich knowledge, culture and heritage. 


The theme of this years anniversary *COVID-19 outbreak: Harnessing the opportunities in the Pandemic*-- *Medicalpractice in the post covid era -- socioeconomic implications and breaking barriers*  is apprioriate in view of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation globally.

NMA wishes to state that it is monitoring these events very closely, particularly, as they may potentially affect our daily activities and has adopted the recommendations geared towards prevention as published by the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control..

NMA will keep ensuring the creation of a conducive environment that facilitates full adherence to these guidelines at all events, where these events are 
absolutely necessary. In the interim, we urge the continued strict observance of regular handwashing, respiratory hygiene, appropriate. use of personal protective equipment where appropriate as well as all other suitable preventive measures.


Our NOC is interested in valuable and profitable discourse channelled towards inspiring members to responsibly bring forth their thoughts for debate and if they are the superior view(s), we promise to appropriately deploy them in line with the NMA constitution. 

However,  we will appreciate during the intellectual discourse, that we define the problems and proffer solutions for them in an atmosphere devoid of insinuations,  innuendos and use of derogatory language. This will be regarded a constructive criticism. 

As regards the NARD STRIKE, NMA remains committeed to the welfare of Nigerian Doctors and will keep everything within our purview to secure job satisfaction , appropriate security and maximum care
 
As we all know that no one is impeccable nor archive of wisdom, therefore we may have some decisions that may not be palatable to some members. We plead you point these out with filial love and also suggest ways out. 


This NOC is devising ways of having maximum interactions  among members as a means of promoting all inclusiveness in our activities. To this end we support and encourage the use of social media and other newer technologies in reaching our large followership.


Needless to say that we have a lot of battles ahead of us,  we should try as much as possible to accommodate ourselves and be focused on the use of our unity in diversity for the improvement of medical profession in Nigeria.

Good evening my people , now that Prof Ujah has accepted his Vice Chancellorship appointment, i feel the next rational step is for him to withdraw his candidacy for NMA President. No long story! If he does otherwise and proceeds with his NMA candidacy after accepting his VC appointment, then something is hugely wrong.The earlier we stop defending the indefensible the better for us all NB..We are for everybody and for no body ie We are not campaigning for or against anybody in the forthcoming election. We have a strong feeling that Prof wont allow some political jobbers and masquerades who have long remained in Naija doctors political space solely for their personal interest and self aggrandizement to coerce him into this moral conundrum. Some people have been eaten up and still derive their source of livelihood from NMA NARD etc. ..now they see Prof as a potential winner and want to force him to take this journey of monumental disgrace and humongous ignominy just for their personal gai

5TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ON 19TH JUNE 2020 AT SOUTH EAST IN UNTH ITUKU OZALLA

SOUTH EAST DTOF REGIONAL REPORTS* June 19, 2020 was a remarkable day for little *Master Chijianu Abonyi* a 20 month old male, admitted in the Paediatric Ward for Obstructive Uropathy. The patient’s mother is indigent and couldn’t afford her hospital bills.  Today this child benefited from the *DOCTORS TIME OUT FAMILY CHARITIES * who made a presentation of the sum of *120,000 naira* to the family. The South-East team, ably led by the *NARD PSG, Dr Aneke*, in the company of current and past presidents of ARD UNTH and ARD NOHE namely  *Dr Ekeoma Nwosu* ARD UNTH POTARD *Dr Okorie* ARD NOHE POTARD *Dr Ndiokwelu * ARD UNTH Past POTARD *Dr Okolo KC* ARD NOHE Past POTARD And the ADN of the Paediatrics were on ground to mark this occasion.
