DOCTORS TIMEOUT FAMILY (DTOF) WARNED US ALL LAST YEAR JUST BEFORE THE ELECTION ON THE DANGERS OF ELECTING A GOVT APPOINTEE TO LEAD AN ASSOCIATION LIKE NMA BUT FOR SELFISH REASONS MOST OF US WENT AHEAD

Good evening my people , now that Prof Ujah has accepted his Vice Chancellorship appointment, i feel the next rational step is for him to withdraw his candidacy for NMA President. No long story!

If he does otherwise and proceeds with his NMA candidacy after accepting his VC appointment, then something is hugely wrong.The earlier we stop defending the indefensible the better for us all

NB..We are for everybody and for no body ie We are not campaigning for or against anybody in the forthcoming election.

We have a strong feeling that Prof wont allow some political jobbers and masquerades who have long remained in Naija doctors political space solely for their personal interest and self aggrandizement to coerce him into this moral conundrum.

Some people have been eaten up and still derive their source of livelihood from NMA NARD etc. ..now they see Prof as a potential winner and want to force him to take this journey of monumental disgrace and humongous ignominy just for their personal gains and may be pecuniary benefits🤔😴😴

Don't be deceived my people definitely most of these praise singers are not doing it for the good of Nigerian doctors .not in our  best interest .not for our unity but for "Oga Wetin u carry" 🍻🍿🍚🍇🎂

They need committee chairman

They want board appointment

They desire appointment as consultants

They want SA SSA SPA TA

They have been carrying about their straw looking for a juicy oil well to continue draining NMA now on Ujahs back

Everybody wants a feel of the National cake

Its so sad that some of us have thrown  the code of morals and ethics they were known for to the winds just to relegate the image of Prof Ujah to the  background and send him to d gallows for their pockets

We all know the major issue here is conflict of interest which affects ethics by distorting decision making and generating consequences that can undermine the credibility of institutions, organizations or even personal relationships.

The real danger lies in the extent to which some leaders claim they are unaware of the many subtle conflicts of interest that we re are dealing with. The university is a dynamic place where struggles of ego, power, rules and authority continuously surface, and it may not be always clear, in the turmoil of dynamics, wat constitutes a conflict of interest or d manner in which one should participate in some deliberations.

We all know that excessive promotion and pursuit of the interests of the university can lead to conflict with your employer/FG and due to different present , past and future contractual arrangements from the associations end (NMA), the interests of FGs too are often in conflict. It wont be wise for some people here out of personal interest  subject an elderly man to such dilemma of especially when they wont be there to save his head when chaos and pandemonium arise.

Why do u want to want to psychologically traumatize Prof and emotionally blackmail him on who to put first in decision making and choices FG or NMA???

As doctors and leaders , we are expected to act ethically at all times, notify promptly of any material facts or potential conflicts of interest and take appropriate corrective action including on this NMA Presidency issue and VC ship .

But why are some of us who i respect so much acting contrary and showing but pseudo-love to Profs ambitions 😴🤔😢😢🤷🏿‍♂️

We all know that there are increasing expectations from ordinary citizens, business leaders and civil society that governments should deliver higher standards of integrity in the civil service, public institutions, public services ,government-controlled corporations, and government itself. , hence conflict of interest in its various forms should become a significant consideration in the day to day work of those who occupy any position of trust.

It is highly regrettable , horribly dismal , sadly unfortunate that humans let alone doctors have failed to respond to the voice of reason and clamour for logic especially as concerns conflicts of interests and burden of morality 

They have consistently told our respected Prof Ujah that the whole bedlam , brouhaha and calls for a second look at this are nothing but campaign of calumny and blackmail from his opponents and supporters.Its really unfortunate that this manner of discourse is going on amongst highly cerebral entities  like doctors at this critical time in our polity

The earlier we stand up and address this the better for us especially knowing that conflicts of interest is particularly important and if not recognised and controlled appropriately, they can undermine the fundamental integrity of officers, decisions, agencies, institutions  and government.

It's both a straightforward as much as a complex matter when

A public officer has union/association interests which could improperly influence the performance of their official duties and responsibilities to d govt/govt owned institutions AND VICE-Versa

Trust in the “integrity” of a govt appointee & d union he is heading can be seriously damaged by suspicion that the performance of d public officer in question as regards his official duties could be affected by d unions conflict of interest.

As members of the Hippocratic family , it is necessary for us to identify  those conflicting interests and do the needful rather than indulging in name calling so that Prof rewards us with a Committee chairman , board membership ; consultant appointment etc

We will like to advice those working so hard to falsely incriminate and fabricate stuffs to Prof Ujah all in a bid to make him keep on with this race to retrace their steps as  we are somehow convinced that Prof will soon abandon them and tow the path of honour.

Sometimes we have to soak ourselves in the tears and fears of the past to water our future gardens.

Let me start concluding with words of Michael Bassey Johnson, an uncommon Nigerian penman who is interested in nature, human beings, science cum philosophy.-- always a message to us all

DTOF  wrote all that last year just before election in a group with Ujah Praise singers and Prof Ujah himself.....but no one listened bc of selfish interests. Prof lleft the group days after..  

This is the root of all our problems now. Let's keep managing symptoms
