OPENING SPEECH ON THE 6th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE DOCTORS’ TIME OUT FAMILY(DTOF) BY THE CHAIRMAN DTOF IN JUNE 2021

 Good morning Distinguished Medical Elders,Senior Colleagues and Colleagues,

I am most delighted to have the honor and privilege to welcome you all to the 6th anniversary of the Doctors Time Out Organisation(DTOF),a non governmental,non profit organization made up of highly versatile,astute,charismatic and sound minded doctors who have cut their teeth in the ever murky and turbulent waters of  medical politics.

This crème de la crème  group of doctors have over the years at each anniversary of the organization  come together to put smile on the faces of the less privileges and also delve into issues bedeviling the health sector with the aim of holistically addressing them and proffering long lasting solutions.

Doctors Time Out Family Organisation have over the years been involved in several charitable projects  such as  Deworm and Educate the Child initiative,Adopt and Train a Child initiative,Free Medical Outreaches and Distributions of food items  and toiletries to the less privileges etc.

The theme for this year anniversary The Postgraduate Medical Education In Nigeria ---The place and future of MBBS.MSc PhD , MD and Fellowship in Contemporary Medical Practice both in Academic and Clinical settings (Nigerian and Diasporean perspectives)  is most apt at this time as this will greatly help to throw more light on the impasse of Fellowship vs Phd..We have the honor and rare privilege to be able to harness an array of very versatile and experienced guest speakers who will do great  justice to the theme.

The two subthemes;

Telemedicine and Remote consulting  : Improving Medical Efficiency during the pandemic via the NARD Telehealth Committee initiative

And

 Medico-legal issues in Contemporary Medical Practice and and Telemedicine (Remote Consulting) : The Pearls and Pitfalls   are equally timely as the world we now know has become a global village and telemedicine will help bridge the gap in places where we have dearth of medical specialists as well as also take a cursory look into the medico-legal and ethical aspect of telemedicine.

 Doctors Time Out Organisation has indeed grown in leaps and bounds within these past six years,and it is worthy to note that this wouldn’t have been possible without the selfless support, sacrifice and dedication shown by you all. When the history of DTOF will be told by those who come after us,we will all feel proud to know that we laid the matrix/scaffold on which monumental historical achievements were made.

 Once again, I welcome you all to the 6th Anniversary of DTOF and  and wish you all a hitch free weeklong activities.

God Bless DTOF!

God Bless the Medical Profession!!

God Bless The Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!

Dr Oamen John Blaze,

Chairman DTOF
