OPENING SPEECH BY CHAIRMAN DTOF - DR. OAMEN JOHN BLAZE AT THE 9TH ANNIVERSARY

OPENING REMARK ON THE 9th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE DOCTORS’ TIME OUT FAMILY(DTOF) BY THE CHAIRMAN DTOF* Good morning Esteemed Medical Elders,Trainers, Senior Colleagues, and Colleagues, It is with all sense of humility, honor, and a rare privilege that I welcome you all to the 9th anniversary of the Doctors Time Out Family Organisation(DTOF), a non-governmental, nonprofit organization made up of highly versatile, astute, charismatic, and sound-minded doctors who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the medical profession in our nation. At each anniversary of the organization, these groups of doctors come together to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged and also delve into various issues bedeviling the health sector in order to holistically address and proffer solutions to them. Doctors Time Out Family Organisation have also over the past years been involved in several charitable projects such as Free Medical Outreaches and Distributions of food items and toiletries to the less privileged, Deworm and Educate the Child initiative, Adopt and Train a Child initiative. It is noteworthy to state that one of the adopted children is a second-year medical student at the Great University of Benin. The main theme for this year's anniversary *The Medical Profession in Nigeria: A Search for Identity in the Middle of Depleted Resources.* is quite apt at this moment considering the number of doctors and other health workers who have emigrated out of the nation in search of better working conditions and remuneration thus furthering depleting the available human resources that was ab initio inadequate to cater for the citizens of the nation. The other subthemes especially *Enhancing Postgraduate Medical Education in Nigeria: Addressing Brain Drain, Inadequate Compensation, High Examination Costs, and Hostile Work Environment - A Collaborative Approach by Stakeholders for Sustainability* is very germane to the average Nigerian doctor because one of the major reason fueling the emigration of doctors to other nations is poor remuneration coupled with hostile work environment . The high cost of examination fees by the various colleges is indeed something that should as a matter of urgency be addressed. As usual our guest speakers will be live via Zoom at the scheduledtime and I urge us all to please take time out of our ever-busy schedule for an interactive session with the various speakers. Doctors Time Out Organisation(DTOF) has in these past years grown in leaps and bounds and it is worthy to note that this wouldn’t have been possible without the selfless support, sacrifice, and dedication shown by you all. History will forever be kind to you for laying the matrix/scaffold on which this monumental historical achievement was made. Once again, I welcome you all to the 9th Anniversary of DTOF and I wish you all a splendid weeklong of events and a happy democracy day. God Bless DTOF! God Bless the Medical Profession!! God Bless The Federal Republic of Nigeria!!! Dr Oamen John Blaze, Chairman DTOF
