Doctor's Time-out Family (DTOF) PARTNERS with CMDA AKWA IBOM STATE CHAPTER TO DONATE 5MILLION NAIRA WORTH OF EQUIPMENT TO THE SPECIAL CARE BABY UNIT (SCBU), UNIVERSITY OF UYO TEACHING HOSPITAL, UYO.






    

                                    

In furtherance of her motto, Loving, Caring and Sharing, the Doctors Timeout Family (DTOF) today Thursday 22nd April 2021, supported CMDA Akwa Ibom State chapter to donate some sophisticated equipment to the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) of University of Uyo teaching hospital (UUTH). 


 The donation which was an initiative of CMDA Akwa Ibom State chapter,  came under the CMDA Newborn Project, with support from DTOF and other public spirited individuals. The equipment which has been valued to worth over 5 million naira included;


👉🏼Two (2) Techmel neonatal incubators,

👉🏼Two (2) General Electric phototherapy machines.

👉🏼Two (2) Nanny baby breathing monitors

👉🏼Two (2) 2000V Century voltage stabilisers:

👉🏼Three (3) Mercury Uninterrupted power supply (UPS);

👉🏼One (1) GGM Neonatal CPAP machine

👉🏼Two (2) Yuwell double bottle suction machine.

👉🏼 Etc.


These equipment which are very vital in the management of premature and neonatal children were received from CMDA by the Chief Medical Director of UUTH, Prof Ememabasi Bassey in an event which took place at the Department of Surgery seminar room.


Speaking at the event, the Founder/CEO of DTOF who was represented by the DTOF National Publicity Secretary, Dr Besong Akotanchi, thanked the CMDA Akwa Ibom State chapter for finding DTOF as worthy collaborators/partners to execute such a gigantic charity donation. After highlighting a brief history of DTOF and it's founding principles, Dr Besong Akotanchi went down memory lane to enumerate some previous charity projects of DTOF worthy of note,  which included, 


👉🏼Deworming of over 1000 school pupils and donation of books in Ibadan Oyo State in 2018,

👉🏼 Adoption and award of scholarship to 8 indigent children in Edo State in 2019, 

👉🏼Donation of facemasks, hand sanitizers, faceshilds, surgical gloves and other personal protective equipment to hospitals across the six geopolitical zones in the wake of COViD 19 pandemic in 2020, 

👉🏼Donation of food items and other relief materials to geriatric homes and orphanages across the country, 

👉🏼 Yearly commemoration of DTOF anniversary laced with charity activities across the country and in the diaspora.

👉🏼 Payment of hospital bills of indigent patients in some hospitals.

👉🏼etc.


Receiving the items on behalf of the Paediatrics department of UUTH, the CMD of the hospital, who was visibly elated alongside his CMAC, Director of Admin and other high ranking management staff, thanked DTOF and CMDA for the charity donations, and called on other philanthropist to toe the path of DTOF in  partnering with the hospital to promote infrastructural development in the hospital. He was hopeful that with the availability of such sophisticated equipment, premature babies who ordinarily may not survive in our environment will now have a chance to live.


Other dignitaries present at the event were; the Chairman of NMA-AKS, the representative of CMDA national president, professors from various departments within the hospital, nurses, doctors, other admin staff and patient relatives.
